Varaha Dwadashi: The Divine Boar Incarnation
Varaha Dwadashi is a sacred day that commemorates the appearance of Lord Varaha, the boar incarnation of Lord Vishnu, as taught by Srila Prabhupada. This divine incarnation represents the supreme Lord’s intervention to save the Earth from catastrophe and darkness.
According to Srila Prabhupada, the Earth was once submerged deep within the cosmic ocean, hidden by the demon Hiranyaksha. Lord Krishna took the form of a magnificent boar, diving into the waters to lift the Earth on His tusks and restore it to its rightful place. This act signifies God’s commitment to protecting His creation and upholding dharma (righteousness).
Spiritual Significance
Varaha Dwadashi is a timeless reminder that the Supreme Lord is always present to rescue His devotees during times of distress. Srila Prabhupada taught that by remembering this incarnation, devotees strengthen their faith and surrender to Krishna’s divine shelter.
On this day, devotees practice fasting, chant the holy names of Krishna, and engage in devotional singing to glorify Lord Varaha. The festival also encourages acts of charity, such as feeding the poor and donating to those in need, reflecting the compassionate nature of Krishna's pastimes.
How to Observe Varaha Dwadashi
Following Srila Prabhupada's instructions, devotees honor Varaha Dwadashi by:

- Engaging in charitable activities to purify the heart and please Krishna.
Blessings of Varaha Dwadashi
By observing Varaha Dwadashi with devotion, one receives protection from negative influences, spiritual upliftment, and blessings for a peaceful and prosperous life. Srila Prabhupada emphasized that the divine act of Lord Varaha is not only a historical event but an inspiration for us to remain steadfast in faith, overcome difficulties, and always seek shelter under Krishna’s lotus feet.
May Lord Varaha bless all devotees with courage, wisdom, and unshakable devotion on this auspicious day.
