Throughout the different ages (yugas)—Satya-yuga, Treta-yuga, Dvapara-yuga, and Kali-yuga—various spiritual practices have been emphasised as the most effective means of spiritual advancement.
In Satya-yuga, when people had long lifespans and great mental concentration, meditation was the recommended process, allowing individuals to remain deeply absorbed in samadhi for extended periods. In Treta-yuga, elaborate fire sacrifices (yajñas) were the primary means of spiritual progress. During Dvapara-yuga, opulent deity worship, accompanied by mantras and grand offerings, was the most effective practice.
While these processes have continued to some extent over time, Kali-yuga, the present age, is best suited for chanting the holy names of the Lord, particularly the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. This is regarded as the most efficient and recommended method of spiritual advancement in this era.
Srila Prabhupada says: “You can also establish the kirtana hall on the farm and install Gaura Nitai Deities. Gaura Nitai can be established anywhere, and it is simple to worship them simply by chanting before Their Lordships. He doesn’t mind that you have not decorated very nicely, but if you chant and dance He is very pleased.” (SP Letter to Madhudvisa, Melbourne, 21 April 1976)
Following the teachings of Srila Prabhupada, Nitai Gauranga can be worshipped simply by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. As part of its various spiritual initiatives, Hare Krishna Movement Hyderabad (HKM-Hyd) launched the “Intinta Nitai Gauranga” program, meaning “Lord Nitai Gauranga in Every Home.” Through this initiative, around 250 families who are sincerely practising Krishna consciousness have welcomed Nitai Gauranga Deities into their homes, engaging in daily worship and deepening their spiritual connection.
